Voices Announces New Policy Staff

July 6, 2016

We are excited to announce the hiring of two key policy staffers: Dana “DJ” Dunlap as Policy Director and Lynanne Wolf, Esq., as Policy Associate. Both began serving in these capacities at the end of June.

Previously, Dunlap served the offices of State Senator Shannon Jones, Governor John Kasich, and Secretary of State Jon Husted. As Senior Legislative Aide in the Ohio Senate she supported an aggressive policy agenda aimed at guaranteeing better health outcomes for Ohio's children. This included a strong focus on reducing the state's abysmal infant mortality rate and providing stronger resources for improved health, safety and wellness. A strong foundation and understanding of Ohio's Medicaid system led her to Governor Kasich's administration as the Administrator of Legislative Affairs and Policy at the Ohio Department of Aging where she promoted legislative action and programs impacting Ohio's elders. Most recently, she served as a liaison between Secretary Husted and his senior staff.

“Every child in Ohio should have the resources needed to thrive,” said Dunlap.  “I’m grateful to be a voice on behalf of one of our state’s most vulnerable populations and will fight to improve conditions for all of Ohio’s children.”

Wolf, meanwhile, joins Voices after being in private practice as a child and family law attorney for the past five years. Prior to becoming an attorney, she served as a Senior Legislative Aide in the Ohio General Assembly.  She returns to policy and advocacy for children at Voices by supporting the policy team and assisting in coordinating, developing, and implementing Voice’s policy agenda under the leadership of Dunlap, who will oversee Voices’ whole Policy Team and manage the organization’s overall policy portfolio.

“I am thrilled to be returning to the policy and advocacy world after gaining a full appreciation for the issues that the most vulnerable children and families are facing in our state,” said Wolf.  I am grateful to join a competent, committed and compassionate team here at Voices.  Let’s get to work!”

“We are very excited to bring on-board these two remarkable young women,” said Brandi Slaughter, Voices CEO. “With the departure of Sandy Oxley, our former CEO and resident health policy expert, we had some big shoes to fill. But, I am confident that DJ, a respected and seasoned advocate, and Lynanne, an expert in child and family law, will orient themselves quickly to the work and take full advantage of new possibilities presented by our increased capacity and expanded policy expertise.”
